Machines and Gossip
There
was a good crowd at the Gray Fairgrounds for the January Swap Meet. On Friday,
it was sunny and the temp was around 40 or a little higher, but, the wind made
it feel like 20. Needless to say, several members were seen hanging out in Charlie
Ball and Pee Wee Phipps’ booth. It was a great place to stop and warm up and swap
tall tales. Incidentally, if you’re in the market for an antique tag, the year
of your ride, talk to Charlie. He has acquired a pretty good sized collection
and does a great job on them.
Probably
shouldn’t talk about him, but, one member (maybe the one writing this story)
got into his truck, about 3pm, to leave the fairgrounds and pulled into a line
of traffic. While waiting in that traffic, called his wife to ask if she needed
him to bring anything……still waiting. After sitting a good while, wondering if
there was a wreck up near the old Sitting Bull restaurant, it dawned on him,
still talking to wife, “There’s not a wreck. It’s Friday, a school day. All
this time, I’ve been sitting in the student pickup line for this elementary
school over here”. Oops.
Charlie
sent me this picture of Tim Hammond’s 32 pickup, last
month, and I sent out the newsletter before I saw it. Like everything Tim build’s,
it’s going to be a nice one.
