Condolences
William Hammond passed away on
October 26th. Bill was a Lifetime Member of KARC. Please keep Tim, Randy,
Tammy and the Hammond family in your thoughts and prayers.
Veteran’s
Day
It is Veteran’s Day, as I work on this
newsletter. We have many KARC members, friends and most all have family members
who are past and present veterans of the Armed Forces. Heartfelt thanks to all
that have served.

Machines and Gossip
Thanks to Sid Vicars for the following:
KARC member David Davis has retired from his
home heat and air business. After 36
years, David has decided to sell his business to a trusted co-worker. As a number of KARC members had new HVAC
units installed by David’s business, we thought it pertinent to let everyone
know that the business is in good hands, and all of David’s previous friends
and customers will still be served by the new owner. The phone number David had is still the
number to call. We wish David well. He now has lots of time for the grandkids,
and for building more great hot rods. No
excuses now for missing club meetings or taking in local car shows.
Club member Doug Phillips has purchased a
really nice 65 SS Impala with a big block and 4 speed. The color is almost Don Juan Red, with mostly
red interior and a split bench seat.
Doug said his grandfather had owned one when Doug was a kid and had been
searching for the right one for years. The SS was painted and restored 20 years
ago and had been in a nice storage facility for the last 20 years. The car has a good story to tell, and Doug
can give it at the Nov. club meeting.
Charlie Ball is taking care of the car show T
shirts and sweatshirts, and reports he has a good number of them left. It has been suggested we discuss, at the Nov.
meeting, how to price them so we can move them out.
Steve Painter has reported that he now has
his LS1 engine with accompanying 6-speed up and running in his nice 55
Chevy. Steve elected to modify the
factory wiring harness rather than buy an aftermarket harness, and he can tell
you of some of the trials and tribulations of that decision.
Sid Vicars has purchased a ‘63 Chevy II for
his wife Kathy. It is a 4 door, 6 cylinder, power glide with 48,000 original miles on it. Kathy took an instant like of the all
original look. Frank Carr had found the
Nova in Colonial Heights. Frank’s buddy
Greg Tyndall subsequently bought it, and Sid purchased the Nova from him. The deuce had original interior with a Sears
under dash AC unit. Kathy wants it kept
with its original look.
Mark Warner has successfully invented a new
paint color which he calls Don Juan Red.
He says Don Hughes’ ‘39 Chevy was close but not exact. So far PPG and DuPont have not tried to buy
the secret formula.
KARC Club member Bill Pettis has a really
nice new ride. He says he should have it at the November meeting. Weather
permitting.
